October 17, 2018, 4:00- 7:00 PM - Joint Fall Transportation Meeting and I-81 Corridor Plan Public Meeting:

The Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) selects four projects in the SAWMPO region to receive FY 2018 -2022 Transportation Alternative Program funds totaling $1,119,462. 

The SAWMPO Policy Board will review SMART SCALE project applications being considered by the Cities of Staunton and Waynesboro, Augusta County, BRITE Transit, and the SAWMPO itself at the June 6, 2018 Policy Board meeting.

VDOT and DRPT are hosting a public meeting and open house for the “I-81 Corridor Improvement Plan” on June 13th, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, at the Blue Ridge Community College Plecker Center.

The Secretary of Transportation, Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB), and State DOT officals hosted the region's FY 2019-2024 Six Year Improvement Program (SYIP) Spring Transportation Public Hearing on Thursday May 3, 2018 at the Holiday Inn Staunton Conference Center.

The study examines traffic signal timing along the Rosser Avenue Corridor in Waynesboro.

On April 10th Governor Ralph Northam signed SB 971 into law directing the Commonwealth Transportation Board to develop and adopt an Interstate 81 Corridor Improvement Plan.

The VDOT SMART Portal opens on March 1, 2018, for SMART SCALE Round 3 applications. SMART SCALE Round 3 marks the beginning of VDOT's biennial SMART SCALE application cycle and covers the fiscal years 2019 and 2020. Applications for the SMART SCALE Round 3 application period are due August 1, 2018.
