The Secretary of Transportation, Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB), and State DOT officals hosted the region's FY 2019-2024 Six Year Improvement Program (SYIP) Spring Transportation Public Hearing on Thursday May 3, 2018 at the Holiday Inn Staunton Conference Center.

The study examines traffic signal timing along the Rosser Avenue Corridor in Waynesboro.

On April 10th Governor Ralph Northam signed SB 971 into law directing the Commonwealth Transportation Board to develop and adopt an Interstate 81 Corridor Improvement Plan.

The VDOT SMART Portal opens on March 1, 2018, for SMART SCALE Round 3 applications. SMART SCALE Round 3 marks the beginning of VDOT's biennial SMART SCALE application cycle and covers the fiscal years 2019 and 2020.
